International Day in Porsgrunn
The International Day was held in Porsgrunn on the 24th of January.
An international food festival where 9 countries served food from their home country was the most popular part of the programme. The students also had pictures, videos and music from their home countries and some wore national costumes.
The participating countries were China, India, Iran, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Ukraine.
Many students and staff members took the opportunity to meet the international students and sample some food from the different countries.
Three faculties had stands with information about exchange opportunities for current TUC students. TUC has a large network of partner universities abroad. All ordinary students have opportunities for exchanges abroad in their programmes.
Students have had the chance to win a price for the best photo in the category ” My International Moment”. 5 photos were selected by a jury and students could vote for their favourite photo. The prizes for first and second place were NOK 1000 and NOK 500 respectively.
First prize was won by N.W.M.Sithara Dayarathna, a student in Process Technology, master (Picture 5). Rune Holm, civil engineering-Y-vei, bachelor won second prize (Photo 2). In addition, a prize of NOK 500 went to one of the students who had voted for the best photo. The winner of the draw was Deshaka Ayasmantha Kottage.
