Admission requirements to Norwegian Language and Civilization
Applicants from Norway, EU and EEA
If you have a permanent resident permit in Norway, EU or EEA you may freely apply for the Norwegian Language and Civilization programme.
Applicants from outside EU or EEA
Applicants from outside EU/EEA must have a bachelor or master degree to be eligible and must be able to pay a deposit of about 94.400 NOK (2013 figures).
This rule is in accordance with Norwegian immigration law. TUC only gives admission to applicants who have a a fair chance of getting a resident permit in Norway. If you live outside the EU/EEA you must have a degree to get a student resident permit. Due to this, applicants without a bachelor or master degree will not be considered for admission.
(Previously it was possible to get admission to a programme taught after the NUS programme at the same time of being admitted for NUS. We no longer have this arrangement.)
Previous education
Your previous education from your home country must meet the minimum requirement for entry into Norwegian universities or university colleges. There is one exception to the minimum requirement. There is no requirements for Norwegian proficiency. Your grades from previous education are relevant for the evaluation of your application.
English proficiency
To be qualified for admission you must meet some minimum requirements for English proficiency. Note that these are minimum requirements. Applicants offered admittance tend to have higher scores than these.
Norwegian
There are no requirements for Norwegian proficiency. The program is designed for students who do not speak Norwegian.
