History, 1 year programme
This study programme will enable students to acquire an understanding of trends in Norwegian and world history. It will also encourage students to develop independent, open and inquisitive attitudes concerning historical cause and effect.
The programme may also be studied as the fourth year of the General Teacher Education programme.
It is also possible to take individual courses from the programme, both in autumn and spring semesters, when world history is taught in the autumn semester and Norwegian history is taught in the spring semester.
This qualification may be used in fields such as teaching, journalism / mass media, cultural activities, museum work, archives and administration in both the private and public sectors.
The study programme provides the basis for admission to the specialisation programme, Nordic History, and may form part of the BA degree in History or other bachelor’s degrees. Candidates may also apply for teaching positions in primary and secondary schools. If students are planning a career in teaching, they must in addition acquire a postgraduate teaching qualification.
