Telemark University College (TUC) has a strong and vital academic and research oriented tradition within cultural studies. Researchers affiliated with this academic field belong to a large researach group and contribute substantially as participants in the cultural studies environment in Scandinavia and Northern Europe.

Research within the field of culture has had a substantial progress since the foundation of what is today known as Telemark University College, and during the past few years there has been a number of larger projects. The cultural research environment has also completed a project focusing on culture and sports, funded by the Norwegian Research Council.

Centre for cultural and sports studies is a research centre established in cooperation between TUC and the independant Telemark Research Institute
