Wood and Metal – Art, Crafts and Design

In this advanced study programme students will further develop their knowledge of and skills in working with wood and metal

They will gain new experience, and use their creative skills in developing ideas, experimenting and implementing designs related to the three main materials, and metal as a principal material / additional material. The programme will develop awareness of the subject specialisation opportunities and values in which learning, culture and environment are key elements.

Furniture design, product design, sculpture and installations are key areas of the programme. The programme includes the opportunity to develop a product and adopt methods from the design and development of ideas. Students will acquire necessary knowledge and skills within the areas of form, technique, material and production. They will employ different methods in their work with materials with the aim to use this in teaching and / or for the development of individual skills.

 
Career opportunities/Further studies

The programme is primarily intended as a subject specialisation in the third year in the Bachelor’s degree programmes, Subject Teacher: Education in the Arts and Visual Art & Design, or as the fourth year of Subject Teacher: Practical & Arts Subjects. It may also be taken as an independent advanced programme.
