At the same time students will gain insight into the circumstances surrounding traditional art and learn to critically reflect on how it is sustained, used, maintained, renewed and interpreted in various milieus.

The programme consists of an introductory course (30 ECTS), which includes the key topics: culture and identity, art theory and folk art, tradition, communication and mediation and theory of science. The programme also includes a Master’s project (30 ECTS) and a Master’s project (60 ECTS).

Career opportunities/Further studies

The study programme qualifies students for research and development and can provide the basis for admission to doctoral studies. Students may also find employment in the cultural sector, in media, arts and cultural institutions, as a performer of folk music or as a folk artist / crafts artist.
