BSc Civil Engineering, bachelor

This degree course offers an engineering education that will enable you to solve general professional tasks within the construction industry. This may be within construction, production and house-building techniques, as well as project administration and job leadership, advanced work in land use planning, mapping and surveying, water supplies, drainage or roads and traffic planning. IT, particularly CAD, will be employed extensively in the programme. Students may take supplementary courses in Information Technology or Economics and Management subjects.

Career opportunities/Further studies

Qualified civil engineers may seek positions in engineering consultancies, construction firms or in the public sector. Tasks and responsibilities normally involve static calculations, technical drawings, building planning with costing, operational instructions, management and economics. In the public sector, tasks may involve town planning, surveying, road building, water supplies, sewage, waste disposal or pollution. Successful candidates may also seek positions as building designers, planning officers or planning advisors.

On completion of this programme, students may apply for a 2-year Master’s degree programme in Energy and Environmental Technology or Process Technology at Telemark University College, or Master’s degree programmes at other university colleges/universities in Norway or abroad.
