Electric Power Engineering,Y-VEI (for applicants with certificate of completed apprenticeship)
Programme: Electronical Engineering
Programme: Electrical Power Engineering
Programme: Computer Science & Industrial Automation
Certified electricians may become graduate engineers in 3 years by following the Y-VEI programme:
In autumn 2002, a new 3-year BSc Engineering programme for certified electricians was implemented at Telemark University College. The previous requirement of 2 years technical college; a 1-year pre-admission course; or a 3-semester course with summer school; is no longer necessary. The successful completion of technical courses from upper secondary schools is now sufficient. Telemark University College is the institution in Norway with the longest experience in such a programme.
Content:
This new programme builds on the student’s educational background. The lack of formal education in mathematics, physics, Norwegian and English are compensated for, without increasing the study time, by removing basic electrical subjects and some elective subjects. Students follow a common teaching plan during the first year. From the second year, students are offered a choice between electronics, electric power technology or computer science and automation.
