Three Semester Arrangement (TRES)

This study programme is intended for students who fulfil the general admission requirements, but who do not fulfil specific entrance requirements for engineering courses (students who have not passed the following courses at upper secondary school: 2FY, 2 MX and 3 MX). A summer course in mathematics is offered in addition to an extra course in physics during the autumn semester of the first year.

The study programme will provide students with the necessary foundation for admission to engineering study programmes at Norwegian university colleges.

NB! Students should apply for TRES and engineering programmes at the same time, and they do not need to apply through the general admissions office.

Teaching and learning methods:

The summer course in mathematics is of seven weeks duration, and attendance is obligatory (lectures and exercises); 2 MX for the first 4 weeks, and 3MX for the last 3 weeks.

Assessment:

  • MA 01 (2 MX) Two sets of submitted work and a 4-hour written examination.
  • MA 02 (3 MX) One set of submitted work and a 4-hour written examination.

During the autumn semester of the first year, an obligatory course in physics is given (topics from 2 FY) (30 hours lectures and exercises)

Assessment:

  • One set of submitted work and a 3-hour written examination.
