MSc Environmental Health, for Teachers

In cooperation with the Faculty of Art, Folk Culture and Teacher Education, the Master’s degree programme Environmental Health, has been specially adapted for teachers.

This Master’s study programme is specially designed for students with an educational background in teaching with the natural sciences as a specialisation subject area, or other relevant education. Furthermore, the study programme is relevant as continuing education for teachers with professional experience. The instruction is structured so that it is possible to take the programme on a part time basis. The study programme consists of various courses comprising in total 60 ECTS and a Master’s thesis (60 ECTS). The teaching is largely based on one-week modules, and laboratory and field-oriented teaching. It provides a flexible study programme, and places high demands on students’ ability to work independently.

Career opportunities/Further studies

Successful candidates will be qualified for employment in research and management, depending on which electives are chosen. The programme qualifies for senior teacher positions in secondary schools, and, in combination with scientific production, assistant professor positions in university colleges. Students who wish to gain a teaching qualification, and do not have formal qualifications, should include a 30 ECTS credits teaching course as an elective in their Master’s study programme.
