The study programme provides students with insight into the structure and functions of the English language, and how this may be used in teaching English as a foreign language. There is also an emphasis on culture, society and intellectual life in English-speaking countries.

Study trip:
The programme includes an obligatory study trip to either London or Washington DC. In addition to strengthening the oral use of English, the study trip will also reinforce the programme’s subject areas of culture, literature and methodology. Students will complete and submit a teaching plan based on the study trip.
Students who have successfully completed English 1 will be able to study English (30 ECTS) at the University of Minnesota, Mankato; this will be approved as English 2.
