Access and services

Laptops have access to local wireless networks at all campuses. Also, certain access points are cabled. All college services will encrypt your user name and password.

Capacity/speed
Capacity will vary with distance to local access point, and with number of connected users.

Which wireless network?

The college is a member of Eduroam. You may choose either the "HiT" (no password required) or the "Eduroam" wireless network (password required), but note:

1. The open "HiT" network will be closed sometime in 2010
2. On login to "eduroam", you must type (your) "username@hit.no" (as opposed to your "username" only)
3. Feel free to use "eduroam" now (sooner or later it will be the only wireless network available )

A service for visitors is under planning.

If you have a laptop with docking in your office, you should use the cabled network (e.g. use the docking station). It is faster and more services are available.
