Academic Calendar:

The year is divided into two semesters, Autumn and Spring semesters. They are approximately 17 weeks including an orientation week, an autumn or spring break and a final week of examinations. The autumn semester begins in week 34. The spring semester usually begins the second week in January and finishes in week 25.

Final exams are held in December and May/June. Holidays such as Christmas, Easter week, Whit Monday and Ascencion day. In addition the New Year's Day, the International Worker's Day and the Constitution Day (May 17th) are holidays.

Academic Authorities:

The excecutive board is the highest authority at Telemark University College. The board is led by the TUC rector, who is elected from the academic staff members. The Board appoints the University College director.

Recognition procedures

Recognition of previous qualifications is sometimes done by TUC, sometimes by the national agency and sometimes by other parties. TUC may grant specific recognition, NOKUT may grant general recognition and other agencies may grant recognition of different skills for use in the labour market.

Credits

We have adopted the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) for all our programmes. One year full time study is equivalent to 60 credits. One semester (half year) full time study is equivalent to 30 credits.
