Norwegian Folk Culture programmes at Telemark University College are based at Rauland Campus.

Department of Norwegian Folk Culture is at Rauland in the borough of Vinje and has national responsibility for higher education in folk culture. Here you can live and study in an active village environment with rich and active cultural traditions. Students are drawn into the local cultural activities, as the department has close connections with local organisations.

A Centre of Norwegian Folk Culture.

The department of Norwegian Folk Culture is a small department, with approximately 90 students and 15 permanent members of staff.The teachers are specialists in their fields, both as performers and teachers. In addition the programme has connections with traditional scholars from various fields.

Plenty of recreational options.

The department is housed in functional buildings surrounded by beautiful scenery very close to the Hardanger plateau (national park). There are many different leisure activities available including, exercise group, riding, choir, dancing, music group, film club, marching band, sports club, walking trails, cross-country skiing and downhill skiing. The students organise a social evening once a week in one of the local pubs, or there are social events and concerts in Årestoga in Telemarkstunet.

Easy to find somewhere to live.

You can choose between house, cabin, bed-sit, flats or shared houses. The students Association act as agents for privately owned accommodation via internet.
