Marit Kleven disputerer
Marit Kleven’s PhD Thesis has been accepted for defence. Title of the thesis is “Numerical simulations and experimental studies for nasal delivery of vaccines and drugs”. Marit has through her PhD work studied the gas-particle flow through the nasal passages both by experimental methods and by computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
The CFD simulations contribution is a better understanding of the airflow characteristics in the nose, and helps foreseeing the deposition efficiency of particular drug delivery systems. CFD has proven to be a strong methodology in terms of contributing to understanding, visualization and improved design for founders of new technology, both industrial ideas as well as patents for medical companies.
The defence consists of two parts – trial lecture and oral defence, both taking place at Telemark University College in Porsgrunn at Thursday 28th of March 2012. The given topic for the trial lecture is “Characterization of particle shape and its importance”. The evaluation committee consists of the opponents Professor Alex Hoffmann (University of Bergen), Professor Mats Bende (University of Göteborg), and Professor Gisle Enstad (Telemark University College).
The supervisor has been Professor Morten C. Melaaen (Telemark University College), and the medical supervisor has been Per G. Djupesland
