Social Sciences
The course will be organised into two modules, each giving 15 ECPS:
- Norway on the edge?
- Place - Nature & Culture
Both modules will be offered in the fall semester.
The course is mainly aimed at teachers - providing knowledge and skills for those who are shaping the leaders of tomorrow. However, participation is also possible for other intersted students.
In the two social science courses that we offer for foreign students, you will be introduced to the rich history of Norway and the way it impacts contemporary Norwegian culture. You will become knowledgeable about the many different traditions on which this unique society rests and how things like the importance of outdoor life, nature and equality shape the Norwegian welfare state.
In both courses, we will encounter experts in the field, observe the local community and make excursions to places of significant social importance, so that you will get first-hand experience and insights into how to make society relevant for your students. In addition, we will use and discuss up-to-date research in class both in traditional print format and with film, video, and internet based technologies.
For more detailed information please see the descriptions of the two modules in the curriculum.
