Environmental Arts - "Formgiving" and Sloyd

Student-Exchange
This study programme is for English-speaking students studying to be teachers who come from all over the world, including Norway. The language of instruction in English, but some Norwegian will also be used.
During the study programme students will mainly work outdoors with installations, buildings, objects and sculptures. They will use areas in the mountains and a nearby lake not far from the university college campus. The study programme will examine terms such as “green art”, “sustainable design” and “post-carbon arts and crafts”.

One of the aims of the study programme is to reuse, reduce and recycle in the making process; students will also be encouraged to develop a sense of place and context during their practical work with each project.

The Institute offer two courses each year; in other words, students will study courses comprising a total of 30 ECTS. The first study programme will commence February 2011, and the first semester will begin with course 3 and then move on to course 1.

Course 1 (15 ECTS) Art in Nature I (spring)

Course 3 (15 ECTS) Art in Nature II (winter)

Successful completion of this study programme will provide students with an International Module in Teacher Training; the study programme may also form part of a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Design. It may also be used when applying for Master’s studies in the Arts, when combined with other study programmes.
