This programme provides students with reflected and critical insight through individual specialisation, methodical study and reasoning. Students will gain a general understanding of the processes of change and trends in culture, and of the conditions for culture in society. Students will also develop their ability to discuss, analyse and reflect, as well as develop their competence as initiators and instructors. This requires knowledge both about that which is being conveyed as well as the target audience. Through the students’ choice of specialised courses in the second year and project themes, and practice/field work in the third year, students may influence their own paths of study. The number of specialisation courses offered will vary from year to year.

Two of the following advanced-study programmes: Cultural Heritage Management (15 ECTS), Arts Communication (15 ECTS), Modes of Film Communication (15 ECTS), Cultural Activities for Children and Youth (15 ECTS), and Music Communication (15 ECTS)

Field Work and Report (30 ECTS)
Teaching consists of lectures, seminars, project work, group work, excursions and fieldwork. Courses last for one or two semesters. The programme includes study trips for each year of study, both at home and abroad, some of the study trips must be organised by students themsolves. A seminar is arranged every year on theoretical or cultural policy issues, which is planned and conducted by the students. Bø Student Art Gallery is run by the students as part of learning how to promote art.
Graduates may seek employment in cultural institutions, festival work, cultural administration in the public sector, voluntary organisations and youth clubs etc. The programme qualifies for admission to MA Cultural Studies.
